Education \u2013 Assessment and Progress<\/h1><\/div><\/div>

I am sure you\u2019re aware that we are in Wales following a New Curriculum since September 2022, the Curriculum for Wales. As part of this change, there has been a change in how we share information with you about your child's development whilst at Ysgol Penybryn. We will report on learners' progress<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • their well-being<\/li>\n
  • information on key progress<\/strong> and learning<\/li>\n
  • key progression<\/strong> needs, the next steps to support their progression<\/strong>, and advice on how parents can support that progress<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    You can see that there is a big emphasis on progress<\/strong> rather than attainment which allows us as a school to focus on what is vital to the individual learner rather than trying to reach a common target for all learners.<\/p>\n

    Here's how we interpret progress<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Progress<\/strong> \u2013 development in skills, learning, knowledge or understanding at a suitable stage of learning for the learner.<\/li>\n
    • Has there been progress<\/strong> (forward movement in learning \/ improvement \/ strengthening)?<\/li>\n
    • Continuous assessment to monitor progress<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Day-to-day provision is designed for the needs of the learner to maximise progress<\/strong> for the individual learner.<\/li>\n
    • The progress<\/strong> of 2 learners is not comparable as it is unique to an individual learner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      You will receive a termly progress report where we will use the colour code below:<\/p>\n

      Exceptional progress<\/strong> for your child<\/td>\nYour child has made progress that is far than expected \u2013 very exceptional.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      Absent for over a month of school<\/td>\n<90%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Absent for up to a month of school<\/td>\n90% \u2013 92%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Up to the school target<\/td>\n92.1% \u2013 94.9%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Above school target<\/td>\n95% - 97.9%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Good \/ Impressive \/ Perfect<\/td>\n98% - 100%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
